I'm Raven DeNoir, and I write romance for readers who like their women grown, their men complicated, and their happily-ever-afters earned.
Sometimes that means falling in love with a dangerous man who has enough enemies to fill a cemetery. Sometimes it means discovering the person standing across the room has been waiting years for the chance to love you properly.
And sometimes it means one woman has three men looking at her like she's the answer to a question none of them knew how to ask.
I contain multitudes. So does my bookshelf.
The Women Come First
Let me tell you something about the women you'll meet in my books.
They're Black women with careers, opinions, history, responsibilities, and lives that existed long before a man entered the picture.
Some are mothers. Some are wives who have had enough. Some are surgeons, businesswomen, fighters, or women who have rebuilt everything after somebody tried to take it from them.
They can be soft without being weak. They can be angry without needing to apologize for it. They can love deeply and still have conditions.
And yes, many of them are full-figured women who know exactly what they bring to the table.
I love writing women who have reached an age where they understand their worth, even if the rest of the world needs a reminder.
The men who fall for them have their own problems.
Some just happen to solve those problems with a gun.
Choose Your Kind of Trouble
One thing you'll learn about me is that I don't stay in a single romance lane.
Dark mafia romance? Absolutely.
In Vows & Vengeance, loyalty is expensive, family comes with obligations, and love can make an already dangerous man considerably more unreasonable. Start with Dark Vows if you want to step into that world.
Paranormal romance? Come on in.
My supernatural worlds have their own histories, rules, loyalties, and conflicts. Love is complicated enough between two ordinary people. Add magic, ancient bonds, or a few possessive supernatural men, and things get interesting.
Why choose romance? Sometimes a woman knows what she wants, and the answer is more than one man.
In Why Choose?, the relationship is built around a woman who doesn't have to make herself smaller to fit somebody else's idea of love.
Contemporary romance? I write that too.
My contemporary stories explore grown-up desire, second chances, complicated histories, and the kind of relationships that force people to be honest about what they want.
Different settings. Different stakes. Different kinds of men.
The woman at the center still gets a say in how her story unfolds.
About Those Happily-Ever-Afters
I believe in romance.
I also believe love can be messy, people can make terrible decisions, and sometimes getting to a happy ending requires somebody to answer for what they've done.
My characters don't always make the choices I'd recommend to a friend over lunch.
Frankly, some of these people should come with legal representation.
But I want their relationships to matter. I want their choices to have consequences. And when they finally reach for the life they want, I want readers to understand why they fought for it.
That's what keeps me coming back to the page.
