Viktor's Elena

He came to America to disappear. She made him want a life.

Elena Carter is nineteen, broke, and disciplined enough to turn double shifts and nursing school into something that looks like a future. She works a D.C. jazz club where men come to drink, lie, and take what they want.

Then Viktor starts showing up every Tuesday.

He sits in the corner like the room is a threat assessment. He tips like money is an apology. He speaks like every word costs. He does not flirt. He does not push. He watches Elena like he is trying to memorize the parts of her the world will try to ruin.

Elena is not the kind of woman who gets dazzled. She gets curious. Then she gets reckless.
